A motion should be typed or hand-printed.

A motion should first be offered to the Executive Board for
review and advice on editing and parliamentary implications.

If changes are necessary, the motion should be recopied on
another form. Amendments may be indicated in the margin or on the reverse
of this form.
Proposed Retirement Policy
WHEREAS, an academic community should treat its faculty with
respect and dignity, at the time of
retirement,
BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Academic Senate authorizes the Executive
Board to work with the Benefits Committee on the draft of a policy that
reflects these principles, and requests that the complete plan be brought
before the Senate, and
-
endorses the principles proposed for a USC Retirement policy
-
recommends that these same principles outlined in Section III of the proposed
plan be
-
extended to all faculty who have worked for 10 years (continuously or not
continuously) and reached the age of 59 & ½; and
-
requests an annual report on the costs and benefits of the plan, and that
the final plan be on the agenda of the Senate during the fall term of 2000
for further consideration.
