LETTER FROM MFA TO THE PROVOST

May 27, 1997

Dr. Lloyd Armstrong
Provost

Dear Dr. Armstrong:

I am writing to you on behalf of the MFA Executive Board to follow-up on our letter of March 13 (copy enclosed) regarding the status of the Governance Document of the School of Medicine.

At the April 8, 1997 meeting of the Medical Faculty Assembly, Dr. Van Der Meulen stated that Robert Lane (University Counsel) would identify problems in the Governance Document, communicate them to you as Provost, and then you would communicate with the MFA.

As we indicated in our letter of March 13, the School of Medicine is in the midst of a self-study in preparation for the LCME accreditation, and clarification of the status of the Governance Document is needed for us to properly prepare the documents for the self-study.

We hope to hear from you soon and express to you in advance our thanks for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Robert H. Stellwagen, MFA President
